DoE fines, seizes banned polythene in nationwide drive | Others
DHAKA, Aug 28, 2025 (BSS) - The Department of Environment (DoE) today conducted special drives countrywide against the production, sale, supply, and marketing of banned polythene. Six mobile courts conducted drives in Chandpur, Pirojpur, Munshiganj, Cumilla, and in Dhaka city’s Darussalam and Chawkbazar areas, said a press release. A total of nine cases were filed, Taka 266,500 was fined and 1,245 kg of banned polythene was seized. One polythene factory was sealed off and its operations shut down. Awareness messages were delivered and leaflets distributed in several markets, supermarkets, and shops.
