The campaign for the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and hall council elections formally began on Tuesday (26 August). The Election Commission announced a three-tier security arrangement for the polls, with army deployment included in the plan. The campaign was inaugurated at a meeting held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban around 11:30 am, where Chief Returning Officer Professor Dr Mohammad Jasim Uddin shared the details. “Dhaka University has repeatedly played a leading role during national crises. Through the DUCSU elections, it is also possible to set a democratic example,” he said. He added that a three-layered security system has been arranged for the polls.
