JU suspends 16 students over ragging allegation | News

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Oct 13, 2025 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities have temporarily suspended 16 students of the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department over allegations of ragging junior students at Hall No. 21 (Male) on yesterday night. The decision was taken as per the directive of Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan under Section 4(1)(b) of the Jahangirnagar University Students' Disciplinary Ordinance, 2018, said an office order issued this evening by JU's Acting Registrar A B M Azizur Rahman. According to the order, the suspended students-all from the 53rd batch (Academic Session 2023-24) of the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department-have been temporarily expelled for their alleged involvement in ragging members of the 54th batch (Academic Session 2024-25).
