ByMd Mamun IslamRANGPUR, Oct 9, 2025 (BSS) - Successful implementation of a surface water conservation scheme under the government's initiative has enabled farmers to produce 2.62-lakh tonnes of additional paddy worth Taka 876 crore annually in the greater Rangpur region. Officials said re-excavation of 248-kilometre stretches of 33 extinct canals and rivers has freed 40,000 hectares of land from decades-long water-logging, turning the land cultivable and benefitting three lakh people, including 70,000 farmers.
