Tornado damages 1,200 thatched houses, uprooting trees in Rangpur | District

RANGPUR, Oct 5, 2025 (BSS) - A short-lived tornado has suddenly lashed fiveunions of Gangachara upazila in Rangpur amid continuous rains damaging 1,200thatched houses in addition to shops and uprooting hundreds of trees onSunday morning.Talking to BSS at 6:30 pm after returning from tornado-hit areas, GangacharaUpazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mahmud Hasan Mridha told that the tornado hitdifferent villages in Sadar, Alambiditor, Nohali, Laksmitari and Kolkondunions of the upazila at 7 am. "The natural calamity badly hit the five unions of Gangachara upaziladamaging some 1,200 houses totally or partially and uprooting hundreds oftrees," he said.However, the tornado did not cause any damage to the growing Aman rice cropin the upazila.While visiting some villages in different unions of Gangachara upazila today,this BSS...
