2,936 fishermen to get 73.40 tonnes of rice during hilsa ban period in Khulna | Others

KHULNA, Oct 4, 2025 (BSS) - The government has planned to distribute 73.40 tonnes of VGF rice among 2,936 registered fishermen to help cover family expenses during the 22-day hilsa catching ban period. Earlier, the government announced a ban on catching, selling, transporting, and hoarding hilsa to increase its production and preserve mother hilsa during the breeding season. The ban is effective from 12:01 am on Saturday and will be lifted on October 25.
