Single-use plastics (SUPs) are set to be completely banned in the Bangladesh Secretariat starting from Sunday. The government has taken the step to set an "exemplary precedent" in curbing the use of these products, which pose a serious threat to the environment and public health, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change said in a statement on Saturday. From Sunday, security checks will be carried out at all Secretariat entry points. If polythene or other single-use plastics are found inside, their use will be prohibited.
