22-day ban on Hilsa fishing begins tomorrow | District

MANIKGANJ, Oct 3, 2025 (BSS) - A 22-day government ban on catching, selling and transporting Hilsa fish will come into effect from October 4(Saturday) to save mother Hilsa during the peak breeding season in three upazilas of thedistrict.District Fishery Officer (DFO) Md. Saifur Rahman said the government has announced a nationwide 22-day ban, effective from October 4 to 25 this year."Mother Hilsa Conservation campaign was being conducted through all three upazilas of the district. The government is providing VGF food assistance to the fishermen who will refrain from catching Hilsa during the period," theDFO said.The government has allocated 244. 65 metric tons of rice under the Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme for distribution to the fishermen families of three upazilas--...
