Former Bangladesh skipper Tamim pulls out of BCB election

As soon as Tamim Iqbal arrived at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla Stadium at 10:15am on Wednesday, the reason was clear. It was the last day for candidates to withdraw from the upcoming Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections. Soon afterwards, Tamim confirmed the decision himself. The former captain of the national team will no longer be vying for a position on Bangladesh cricket’s governing body. At least 10 other candidates withdrew from the polls on Wednesday. One of them, Israfil Khosru of the Axiom Cricketers’ Council, spoke to the media, stating that the decision was to protest interference by a group with links to the government. “There is naked interference in the BCB polls,” he said. “There is no proper atmosphere for elections....
