A Dhaka court has sent Saiful Islam Rabbi, a former coordinator of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, and three others to police custody for questioning over two days in connection with an extortion case. The remand order was passed by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan on Tuesday in response to a police plea. The other three suspects placed on remand are Abu Sufian, Abdur Rahman, alias Monir, and Habibur Rahman Forhad. Police received permission to interrogate Shahin Hossain, one of the suspects in the case, for a day at the jail gate if necessary, according to Assistant Commissioner Hasan Rashed Parag.
