The companies provided the fund at a rate of 0.5 percent of their annual profit following the Bangladesh Labour Act-2006 (Amended 2018), a PID handout said here today. The Cheques of the money were handed over to the adviser to the Ministry of Labour and Employment Brigadier General (Rtd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hussain at his Bangladesh secretariat office here. Among the given funds, Grameenphone Ltd provided Taka 68 crores 80 lac 61,500, British-American Tobacco gave Taka 15 crore 98 lac 30,757 and Edotco Bangladesh Company Ltd. gave Taka three crore nine lac 42,086, the handout said.
