Eight burnt in ‘hydraulic jack explosion’ in Chattogram depot

An explosion at an iron depot in Chattogram’s Sagorika has left eight people burnt. Police said the blast occurred around 6:30pm on Saturday at the depot on Sagorika Road under Pahartali Police Station. Officers at the scene could not immediately confirm the cause. The injured were taken to the burn unit of Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Sub-Inspector Nurul Alam Ashek, in charge of the hospital’s police outpost, told bdnews24.com that the victims were brought in around 7pm and admitted to Ward No. 36.
