A fire broke out at a substation of the Ghorashal Thermal Power Station in Narsingdi, damaging a transformer and leaving two Upazilas without power for nearly six hours. The incident occurred around 4am on Thursday, according to Enamul Haque, the chief engineer of the station. He said the fire erupted on the 132/33kV transformer connected to the national grid, causing panic across the power station.
