Legal notice served to stop illegal sand extraction from Meghna river | News

DHAKA, Sept 24, 2025 (BSS): A legal notice has been served to concerned parties to halt illegal sand extraction from the Meghna River and to take legal action against those sand lifters. The notice was issued today through post and email by Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Md. Solaiman (Tushar) on behalf of Md. Kamal Hossain, a resident of Munshiganj, for the sake of public interest. The respondents have been asked to take effective measures within seven days, failing which legal proceedings will be initiated. According to the notice, parts of the Meghna River in Munshiganj have become sites for illegal weapon training and havens for sand mafias.
