NCP applies to EC for 'Shapla' symbol | Others

DHAKA, Sept 24, 2025 (BSS) - The National Citizen Party (NCP) has formallyapplied to the Election Commission (EC), seeking the inclusion and allocationof the "Shapla" (water lily) symbol, or its variants "White Shapla" or "RedShapla," as the party's electoral symbol. The application was submitted today via email to the EC Senior Secretary,requesting necessary amendments to the Representation of the People's Order,2008, to include the proposed symbols in the official list, according to NCPsources. In the application, signed by NCP Convener Md. Nahid Islam, the party arguedthat there is no legal bar to listing the Shapla as an electoral symbol underthe Representation of the People's Order and related laws.
