A section of madrasa teachers and guardians have demanded that the upcoming Durga Puja holiday in madrasas be cancelled, describing it as “irrelevant” and “against Sharia”. Educational institutions across Bangladesh, including madrasas, are scheduled to remain closed during the Hindu festival in October.
