DHAKA, Sept 24, 2025 (BSS)- A court here today granted five days police remand for former minister Advocate Qamrul Islam in connection with the killing of ‘Jhut’ trader Monir at Chankharpool area during last year’s mass uprising. Metropolitan Magistrate Sadikur Rahman issued the order as Qamrul was produced before the court and sought 10 days remand. Detectives arrested Qamrul Islam from the capital on November 18 last year. Earlier, he was taken on remand several times in connection with various cases lodged against him. According to the prosecution, Md Monir, a Jhut (rubbish fabric) trader, was shot dead by police near Chankharpool area on August 5 last year during the mass uprising.
