Shopnodal pays tribute to Marceau with ‘Macbeth’ mimodrama | News

DHAKA, September 22, 2025 (BSS) - Sopnodal, a theatre and drama band staged Shakespeare’s famous tragedy Macbeth’ Mimodrama on the occasion of the 18th death anniversary of world-renowned French mime artist Marcel Marceau, popularly known as the ‘Master of Mime. The drama was staged at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy this evening with the cooperation of Ministry of Cultural Affairs. The production, based on William Shakespeare’s famous tragedy, was adapted by Juena Shabnam and directed by Zahid Ripon, following the traditional style of Bangla mime. The play depicts the eternal story of courageous general Macbeth, whose greed, selfishness and boundless ambition drive him to murder King Duncan, seize the throne, and commit successive atrocities to maintain power....
