Kaptai hydroelectric spillways closed as water level stabilizes | Others

RANGAMATI, Sept 19, 2025 (BSS) - The 16 spillways of the Karnaphuli Hydroelectric Power Station were closed this morning following a return to normal water levels in Kaptai Lake. Engineer Mahmud Hasan, Manager of the power station, confirmed to BSS that the spillways were shut at 8:00 am after monitoring indicated that the lake's water level had stabilized at 108.22 feet above mean sea level, below the designated danger mark.
