Togor, convicted of killing BUET student Sabekun Nahar Sony, arrested

Mushfiq Uddin Togor, a convicted defendant in the 2002 murder of BUET student Sabekun Nahar Sony, has been arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion. Togor, 50, was apprehended with a revolver and 156 rounds of ammunition at Azimpur of Dhaka’s Lalbagh on Thursday night. According to a RAB statement, Togor was one of the key suspects linked to Sony’s killing, a chemical engineering student, during a student clash on Jun 8, 2002. The altercation, stemming from a tender dispute between two factions of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, led to Soni being shot and killed.
