Dengue fever continues to wreak havoc in Bangladesh, with five new deaths reported in the past 24 hours and 622 new hospital admissions. The tally of deaths for the year now stands at 161, with 39,192 individuals hospitalised due to the Aedes mosquito-borne disease. According to the health directorate’s daily bulletin on Wednesday, three of the dead were receiving treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, while the other two were at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Among the dead, four were women, and the other a man. The newly-admitted patients include 199 from two Dhaka city corporation areas.
