Barishal DFO suspended over 17 alleged fraudulent marriages | Others

DHAKA, Sept 17, 2025 (BSS) - Barishal Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Md Kabir Hossain Patwary has been suspended and transferred amid widespread controversy over allegations that he fraudulently married at least 17 women. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change issued the suspension order on Wednesday through a notification signed by Secretary Dr Farhina Ahmed. The action was taken under Rule 3(b) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules-2018 on grounds of serious misconduct. The ministry has also invoked Rule 12(1) to temporarily suspend Kabir from service, stating that the step was necessary and expedient under the circumstances.
