Former Durgapur UP Chairman held in attempted murder case | District

RANGPUR, Sept 17, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested Md Rabiul Islam Pramanik, 52, former chairman of Durgapur Union Parishad in Mithapukur Upazila and president of the Union Awami League, in a case of attempted murder and assault during the anti-discrimination student movement. "We arrested him from the Shimulbag area in Rangpur city at 7:30 pm on Tuesday," said Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Ataur Rahman. The July uprising injured victim, Jasim Mia filed a case against him of attempted murder and attack on the anti-discrimination student movement on July 19, 2025, at the Tajhat Metropolitan Police Station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police.
