A writ petition has been filed in the High Court challenging the Election Commission’s (EC) decision on the redrawing of the Faridpur-4 parliamentary seat, amid protests involving arson and vandalism. On Monday, BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Md Jahirul Haque Shahjada Mia, Zia Shishu Kishore Sangathan’s President Shah Alam Reza, along with 16 others, submitted the petition. Lawyer Mohammad Humayun Kabir Pallob moved the petition on their behalf, making the chief election commissioner and the EC secretary respondents. Earlier that day, protesters demanding reversal of the boundary decision vandalised vehicles after storming Bhanga Police Station, before setting fire to the Upazila Parishad office.
