Father, son get jail for torturing housewife for dowry in Jamalpur | Law and Court

JAMALPUR, Sept 15, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today convicted a man and his father, sentencing them to two years' rigorous imprisonment each for torturing a housewife over dowry at Dewanganj upazila of the district in 2021. The convicts are Md Kamrul Islam , 29 , and his father Md Abdur Razzak, 50 , residents of Langkarchar village under Dewanganj upazila. According to the prosecution, Kamrul Islam married Jahanara Begum, daughter of Md Moynal Haque of Moulavir Char village in the same upazila, on January 11, 2016, receiving Taka 2 lakh in cash and household items worth Taka 1 lakh as dowry during the marriage.
