‘Suspicious movements’: Police seek remand for detained US citizen of Bangladeshi origin

A Dhaka court has ordered the arrest of a US citizen of Bangladeshi origin under the Anti-Terrorism Act after he was detained while allegedly moving “suspiciously” in a car on Minto Road. Police have also applied for a 10-day remand to question 55-year-old Enayet Karim Chowdhury in custody. On Monday, Metropolitan Magistrate Saifuzzaman granted police permission to place him under arrest in the case, while a separate hearing on the remand petition was scheduled for later in the day, prosecutors said.
