Protest outside Titumir College snarls traffic in Dhaka’s Mohakhali

Students of Government Titumir College have blocked the road in Dhaka’s Mohakhali as part of their protest against the plan to create a separate university for seven colleges affiliated with Dhaka University. They have now joined the broader movement demanding preservation of their “independent structure”, even as their call for a university to be formed specifically for Titumir College has gone unanswered. More than 50 students gathered on the Amtoli-Gulshan road in front of the college around 12:30pm on Monday, bringing traffic to a halt and causing congestion on the busy thoroughfare.
