Farida Parveen, the celebrated Lalon Sain singer whose voice touched millions over five decades, has died at the age of 71. She breathed her last at 10:15pm on Saturday in the intensive care unit of Universal Medical College Hospital in Dhaka, where she had been admitted on Sept 2 due to serious health concerns. Initially placed in intensive care, Parveen was later put on life support. Ashish Kumar Chakraborty, the hospital’s managing director, confirmed her death.
