Man dies in hospital after falling ill in police custody

A man arrested in a theft case at Tongi West Police Station in Gazipur died in hospital after falling ill while in police custody. Md. Mohammad Zahidul Hasan, Additional Police Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) and Acting Commissioner of GMP, stated that around 2:00 pm on the day, local residents—including Sohel, Nur Islam, and Roni Mia’s wife—brought him to the police station from Fakir Market in the Boro Dewra area of Tongi.
