Hafizur Rahman Sohan, the central vice-president of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), was detained for allegedly staying on campus illegally during the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) elections. Sohan, a former student of the English Department of the university, was apprehended on Thursday (11 September) around 11:00 am from a room in Rabindranath Tagore Hall. When asked about his presence in the residential hall during the elections, Sohan said he had come to campus on Wednesday night and, feeling unwell, went to the hall to rest.
