Nationwide DoE drives: polythene seuzed, fines imposed | Others

The operations were carried out in Rajbari, Munshiganj, Pirojpur, Khulna, Nilphamari, Chapainawabganj, Panchagarh and various areas under Dhaka South and North City Corporations. In Rajbari, Munshiganj, Pirojpur and Dhaka’s Chawk Bazar area, four mobile courts filed three cases and realized Tk. 4,500 in fines for the illegal production, sale and distribution of banned polythene bags. A total of 126 kilograms of banned polythene were seized during the drives. Awareness campaigns were also conducted by distributing leaflets. Besides, public were encouraged to use eco-friendly alternatives such as jute bags. In the capital's Shyamoli area, a mobile court fined Tk. 16,000 in five cases for vehicles emitting excessive black smoke. Several vehicle owners and drivers were cautioned during the drive.
