
Abu Shadik Kayem, the newly elected vice-president (VP) of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), has described his sweeping win as a victory not for one panel but for what he called the “July generation” of students. "There is no victory or defeat in the DUCSU election,” Shadik said at a press conference at the university’s Senate Bhaban on Wednesday morning, shortly after the results were announced. Instead, the outcome belonged to the “July generation”, the aspirations embodied by the July Uprising, and above all, the students of the university, according to him.
