Govt to import 1.40 lakh MTs fertilizer, 10,000 MTs phosphoric acid | News

DHAKA, Sep 9, 2025 (BSS) - The government today approved five separate proposals to import some 140,000 Metric Tons (MTs) of fertilizer and 10,000 MTs of phosphoric acid under state-level agreements. The approvals came from the current year's 35th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP) held today with Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.This fertilizer will come from Morocco and Canada aimed at ensuring smooth supply of agricultural inputs ahead of the upcoming cultivation season. All the consignments will be imported by Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) and Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) under the existing intergovernmental contracts with the Ministry of Industries and Ministry of Agriculture placing the proposals before the committee.
