Over 500 families stranded as onrush of upstream water floods Khagrachhari

Heavy rain has led to flooding and landslides in low-lying areas of Khagrachhari, leaving at least 500 families stranded. The rain on Saturday night submerged several parts of the district town, including the Nicherbazar, Gorubazar, Mehedibagh, Uttar Ganjpara and Shabdmia areas. Although the rain stopped on Sunday morning, the Chengi River continued to swell, causing waterlogging in canals across the town.
