River Police seizes huge illegal fishing nets, 257 held | Others

DHAKA, Sept 4, 2025 (BSS) - The River Police in the nationwide ongoing operation to protect the country's fisheries resources and ensure safety on the waterways has seized a huge quantity of illegal fishing nets and held 257 crime suspects in the past week.During the operation, over 2.66 crore meters of illegal fishing net, 2,360 kg of fish, 120 kg of jellied shrimp were seized and 228 bushes were destroyed from the river, said a press release.They also arrested 257 accused in various cases in the past seven days.
