Govt pledges swift justice over attack on Nur, vows thwarting attempts to foil polls
The Interim Government of Bangladesh has issued a strong statement condemning Friday’s attack on Nurul Haque Nur, president of the Gono Odhikar Parishad and a leading figure in the July Uprising, calling the assault a direct attack on the spirit of the democratic movement. In a formal statement released today, the Interim Government denounced the violence as “heinous and unacceptable,” reaffirming its commitment to deliver swift and transparent justice. “No individual, regardless of influence or position, will be spared from accountability,” the statement read. “Justice will be served without delay.” Nur, a prominent student leader during the 2018 anti-quota protests and a key mobiliser in the July Uprising, was injured in the attack, along with several members of his party....
