Couple sentenced to 14 years for possessing fake bidi band-rolls | Law and Court
RANGPUR, Aug 28, 2025 (BSS) - A court here has sentenced a couple to 14 years in prison for possession of counterfeit Bidi band-rolls, in a verdict delivered on Wednesday afternoon. Judge Md Moshiur Rahman Khan of the Rangpur Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court pronounced the sentence in the presence of the accused -- Bulbul Islam, 28, and his wife Rowza Begum, 23 - hailed from the Chandan Kuthi area under Haragachh Metropolitan Police Station. The court also imposed a fine of Taka 10,000 on each convict, in default of payment, to suffer an additional two months in jail. According to court sources, the couple was apprehended on January 2, 2021, in possession of a significant quantity of counterfeit Bidi band-rolls....
